Somnambulism
Somnambulism is a term used to describe the phenomenon of the parasomnia of sleep walking. You will find that you are carrying out physical acts that you would normally carry out when you are fully conscious. You may find that you are sitting up in bed, moving around or even walking for quite a distance. Whilst this is quite a normal occurrence, it should be monitored as you could be putting yourself at risk due to this physical activity being unconscious to you. Equally, it can be disruptive to your sleep and should not occur very regularly, particularly in adults. If you do find that you are suffering from this on a regular basis you may wish to seek medical advice, as it could be a psychological factor that is causing your somnambulism.
