How can I get a Free Abortion?
If you find out you are pregnant and are considering having an abortion you may be wondering how expensive they are and if you can get one for free.
The NHS offer abortions for free. You just have to see your GP and ask them to refer you to a clinic for an abortion. You can also get access to an NHS funded abortion by visiting your family planning clinic, sexual health clinic or Brook centre for young people. Alternatively, you can contact a private clinic directly and refer yourself.
Private clinics can charge around £400 - £800 for an abortion but most also undertake abortions on behalf of the NHS. The NHS sometimes refer women to the private clinics if they are unable to offer an abortion within the appropriate timescales.
