Clinic details: Wessex Fertility can be found in Southampton's Freya Centre, which is within easy reach of nearby London and Portsmouth, making it an easy location to access from mouth of the south of England. Out of this conveniently located and extremely accessible location, in vitro fertilisation (IVF) and intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) are offered alongside more traditional forms of assisted reproduction like artificial insemination. In 2009 Wessex Fertility performed 346 cycles of IVF and 467 cycles of ICSI (intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection), and the HFEA reported success rates in line with the national average. The proportion of single births at the clinic have also been reported as being above HFEA targets, an important achievement considering that multiple births are considered to be one of the biggest dangers of fertility treatment. Other services include storage services for patients including those with cancer who might choose to store material prior to receiving treatment.
Fertility treatment at this clinic: For many of us having a family is something we can almost take for granted, not many people consider the chances or likelihood of facing difficulties in trying to start a family, but a surprising 1 in 6 people in the UK are expected to need to deal with infertility at some point in their lives. Fortunately reproductive medicine is a field that has evolved in the past 2 or 3 decades to provide many couples who in the past would have no options with a real chance of getting pregnant and having a baby. The Wessex Fertility service based at the Freya Centre is one of many fertility clinics and treatments centre that are a consequence of advancements in the field of fertility care. The centre is particularly known for taking a personal and informal approach that includes providing for the emotional side of infertility through counselling. With over 24 years of service in the field under their belt, you can expect the expertise that so much experience can bring to their practices and treatments. Hundreds of couples have been helped by Wessex Fertility thus far, and as a centre bearing a full HFEA license, you can expect quality care in many respects including, for example, doctors who are on call around the clock every day of the year to help when and where needed.
