It has been stressed repeatedly that you must be open and honest in your discussions with your surgeon if you are to make the most informed decision on what will be most effective for you.  To do this, you must ensure you ask the right questions.

Issues you might want to consider in your consultation may include:

  • Am I suitable for a Blepharoplasty?
  • What benefits can I expect, and how long should they last?
  • How painful is the procedure?
  • How likely is scarring?
  • What are the risks and potential side-effects?
  • How long is recovery?
  • What overall cosmetic effect can I expect?

These are general considerations. All of these are addressed elsewhere in the content of this website, but it is only through personal consultation with your surgeon that you can decide if the procedure is right for you.  Every individual client is unique.

You may also want to ask more specific questions such as:

  • Is your prospective surgeon Board Certified to carry out cosmetic surgery?
  • How long has your surgeon been performing the procedure?
  • How successful has his or her record been?

It is absolutely acceptable to ask such questions.  In particular, you should not even consider having the procedure performed if the surgeon is not Board Certified.

Remember, this is an important decision you are making.  You have every right to be as informed as possible.  A good surgeon should be happy to discuss any concerns or questions you may have.
