The 15 Minute "Nose Job"

Non-surgical rhinoplasty is sometimes otherwise known as the 15 minute "Nose Job" because it’s a quick, effective and cheap alternative to traditional surgical rhinoplasty. Some people are put off by the potential problems of undergoing rhinoplasty surgery and the possibility of unfavourable results after the procedure is complete, not to mention the cost of the surgery itself. Non-surgical rhinoplasty is an affordable alternative to surgery, though not as permanent, for people who want the nose reshaping benefits of rhinoplasty quickly and safely.

The cost of non-surgical rhinoplasty is much cheaper than the traditional surgery, normally starting at a tenth of the price. You can expect to find non-surgical "Nose Job" treatment starting from around £50.

Benefits and Drawbacks of Non-Surgical "Nose Job"s

One of the most obvious and favourable benefits of non-surgical rhinoplasty is that it is quick to perform and there is no downtime required afterwards. The results are immediate and there is no need for a drawn out healing period after the procedure. Since the results are relatively temporary you are always able to make minor adjustments gradually and because there is no healing period you face will always look natural.

The main limitation of the treatment is its lack of permanence. Whilst the results are instant they last between 6 to 12 months, whereas a traditional "Nose Job" would be permanent. But the side benefit of this is that as your face changes naturally with age you will be able to make alternative adjustments over time with this treatment easily and cheaply.

Suitability for Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

Generally speaking if a person feels uncomfortable with their nose and wants some of the benefits of rhinoplasty but doesn’t wish to undergo the surgery then non-surgical rhinoplasty is a good option for them. The treatment is often more effective with minor adjustments rather than major restructures and is purely cosmetic. If you seek rhinoplasty for functional rather than aesthetic reasons then it is unlikely that non-surgical rhinoplasty is for you.

More specifically, if you feel that your nose:

  • Is partially crooked
  • Has a hook you would like to straighten
  • Has a small to medium bump on the nasal bridge
  • Has relatively drooping tip
  • Needs a more defined tip
  • Needs more height
  • Needs enlargement
  • Needs refinement after traditional surgical rhinoplasty

Then non-surgical nose reshaping is an idea worth pursuing for you. You are able to talk through with your doctor any concerns or questions you may have about the procedure and they will be able to advice which course of action is best for you to undertake.

The Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Procedure

There is no need for general anaesthetic for non-surgical nose reshaping. A local anaesthetic known as topical anaesthetic is applied on and around the nose 15 to 30 minutes prior to the procedure to ensure you don’t feel any discomfort. You remain awake for the entire treatment and, in order to make sure you are in control of the final results, you are given a mirror so that you can oversee the procedure. A filler is injected in small amounts to various precise locations on the nose which controls the contours and eventually the overall shape of your new nose.

Recovery from Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

Whilst recovery time is minimal and the procedure itself is almost completely pain free there is still a small degree of aftercare and necessary precautions. It is a good idea to avoid wearing heavy glasses or sunglasses for about two weeks after the treatment, as this could be painful and possibly hinder the results of the procedure. Otherwise there isn’t any particular swelling or pain associated with the treatment and you should be able to return to work on the same day as the non-surgical rhinoplasty is performed.
