Radiofrequency Ablation
Radiofrequency Ablation is a procedure that can be used to treat sleep apnoea and is similar to that of Laser Assisted uvulopalatoplasty but involves radio frequency, not lasers. The benefits of this procedure are that it can be performed in your doctor’s surgery and can have reduced complications and uncomfortableness in comparison with LAUP. The radiofequeny is used to shrink tissue at the back of the tongue, which can cause blockages that cause sleep apnoea and snoring. It can be a worry that this treatment merely removes the snoring and not the sleep apnoea. Therefore, if you do know that you suffer from sleep apnoea, you will need to monitor your breathing after the procedure to check to see if you are still suffering from sleep apnoea or not.
