Why Can’t I Sleep?
Unfortunately, this question has no simple answer, as there could be a number of different factors affecting your sleeping pattern. Your sleep disruption could be due to a change in your lifestyle; a new stress e.g. a new baby, shift work or bereavement. It could be due to a different environment in your room e.g. more noise or too hot. Or you may be suffering from a sleep disorder.
In order to answer the question, ‘Why can’t I sleep?’ you will need to establish the root cause of the disruption of sleep. For example, if your lack of sleep has come on quite quickly, and you have experienced a change in your lifestyle, then this is most likely to be the cause of your disturbed sleep. However, if your sleep patterns have changed gradually over time and are becoming progressively worse, then you could be suffering from a sleep disorder. The more disturbed nights you experience the more likely you are to become stressed and unable to sleep, thus it is important you begin to assess and take steps to resolve your sleeping problem.
However, whatever the cause is for your disturbed night’s sleep, there most likely will be a solution. Sleep is one of the most natural things we do and should be a stress-free, relaxing time and there is no reason why you should not be able to enjoy a good night’s sleep.
