There are many different procedures that can be used to correct asymmetric breasts. Which one you have will depend upon the nature of your condition and the advice of your doctor. You should not expect the surgery to result in identical sized breasts as this may be unrealistic, however there should be an obviously significant improvement.

The different procedures that are available are detailed below:

  • Increasing the size of the smaller breast
  • Reducing the size of the larger breast
  • Placing different sized implants in both breasts
  • Increasing the size of the smaller breast

This is the most common option that women go for, however there will still usually need to be a combination of techniques in order to match the breasts as closely to each other as possible. In this situation the originally larger breast will still need some adjustment also to match it to the enhanced smaller breast.

  • Reducing the size of the larger breast. This would be most suitable in situations where both breasts were fairly large to begin with and an overall reduction in size was required.
  • Placing different sized implants in both breasts. This option may be best for you if you are not happy with either of your breast sizes. If your breasts are different sizes but you would still like the larger one to be bigger then you can have an implant in both. In this way you would have a smaller implant in your larger breast and a larger implant in your smaller breast. This would give you a larger over all bosom but also, more importantly perhaps, breasts which are equal to each other.
