Within the UK a vaginoplasty, performed privately, will cost you anything between £3000 and £4500 depending on where you have the surgery, the extent of the surgery and the surgeon conducting the procedure.  This is the cost for the operation only, sometimes consultations can be around £100, and any additional care that you might require is likely to cost you more.  On top of this you need to take into account the amount of time you will need to take off work, (generally one week), any travelling costs and any aftercare which you might need to pay for. 

Vaginoplasty on the NHS

It is always a good idea to go to your GP before you seek a vaginoplasty privately as they can help you to find suitable surgeons and clinics nearby, and offer you advice on questions to ask and recovery aids.  As well as this there are instances where a vaginoplasty can be performed on the NHS.

Whether the NHS will provide you with a vaginoplasty depends on the reason that you want to have the operation.  The most common reason that is accepted by the NHS is that of problems post-birth, with stretching and scarring of the vagina necessitating some form of reconstruction.  Other problems that will allow you to have a vaginoplasty on the NHS are:

• Prolapsed uterus
• Prolapsed bladder
• Prolapsed intestines
• Damage to the vagina due to giving birth or complications when giving birth.

Every circumstance is different, and all instances will be examined in order to determine whether or not they are eligible for an NHS funded vaginoplasty.
