Skin tags do appear very differently to most moles, although you might notice some similarities between them.  Skin tags can appear as a darker colour to your original skin, and this might make smaller ones look similar to moles in appearance.  However, the main thing to distinguish between the two is the stalk and the smaller attachment that connects the skin tag to your skin.  Moles rarely have this.  If you are unsure at all about whether you have a skin tag, or a mole, or something more complicated, then always visit your GP.  Your doctor will be able to easily discern the difference, and will be able to put your mind at ease.
