ClearSmile Aligner Treatment

After the consultation and planning stages, you will start your treatment. Your dentist will contact you when your aligners are ready and then fit the first one for you; they will check that you feel comfortable and then advise you when to wear your aligner, how to look after it and when to swap the current aligner for the next in the sequence.
Although ClearSmile aligners are removable, it’s very important that they are worn for a period of time every day (usually a minimum of 22 hours per day); if you leave your aligners out for a long period of time on a regular basis, they won’t be able to do their job properly and the teeth won’t move as anticipated.
ClearSmile aligners are very convenient and they can be taken out in a matter of seconds; they are designed to be removed when you eat and clean your teeth, so you won’t need to worry about getting food stuck in your braces when you’re eating or an increased risk of dental decay.
Follow-up appointments
Throughout your treatment, you will be advised to see your dentist on a regular basis so that they can check how you are getting on and make sure you are responding well to treatment. Ideally, you should have an appointment every 4-6 weeks. Your dentist will take new impressions of your teeth throughout your treatment; this will enable them to create an accurate plan for the remainder of your treatment; new moulds are usually taken every 6 aligners. If you have any questions about your braces or you lose or break an aligner, don’t hesitate to contact your dentist.
When your dentist is satisfied with your smile and happy with the new position of the teeth, your treatment will end and you will be advised to wear a retainer. Retainers are an important part of your treatment because they help to ensure that your teeth stay in the desired position. Your dentist will explain how and when to use your retainers.
