Gabapentin
Gabapentin is an epilepsy medicine that can be used to treat people who suffer from Restless Leg Syndrome or Periodic Limb Movement Disorder. It helps to stabilise electrical activity within the brain, because abnormal electrical activity can cause muscle fits, which are associated with both restless leg syndrome and periodic limb movement disorder. To do this, Gabapentin acts like a neurotransmitter within the brain and keeps the electrical activity balanced. Thus, this will hopefully reduce any pain experienced if you suffer from one of these disorders. This form of treatment will only be considered should you have tried other methods and they have failed and if you experience pain both day and night.
