Night Terrors
Night-terrors occur earlier in the night during NREM sleep and involve the individual waking up screaming, frightened and upset. Night-terrors differ from nightmares quite considerably and should not be confused. As they occur during a different state of sleep the night-terror will often not be remembered in the morning. Night-terrors that occur regularly are thought to be a type of parasomnia, as you will wake up screaming, frightened and so on. Establishing a sleeping pattern and ensuring you have a healthy sleeping pattern can help ease the symptoms of night-terrors. If you are an adult that suffers from night-terrors then it is thought that you are suffering from some kind of stress which can lead to psychological anxiety. You should consult a doctor if this event is recurring and affecting your waking life due to the disruptions caused during the night.
