Types of Restless Leg Syndrome
There are two types of Restless Leg Syndrome, both primary and secondary. Primary RLS is the more common of the two and occurs for no explainable reason or cause. Once started it often becomes a lifelong disorder. Secondary RLS is caused by something else, e.g. another disease, and has been seen to be associated with Sleep Apnoea and Narcolepsy. It can also be caused by medicines and should cease should you stop taking the medication. Pregnant women have also reported disturbed sleep due to RLS and this is normally accentuated during the last three months of their pregnancy. In most cases it does disappear several weeks after pregnancy, but some women do suffer from RLS again later on in life.
