Arm & Hammer Freshmint Gel
Find UK Dentists »
Arm & Hammer freshmint is currently available to purchase in the UK. This toothpaste is different from the norm as it has a gel consistency, as opposed to the generic paste. It (like the rest of Arm&Hammer’s toothpaste range) contains baking soda for a gentle, non-abrasive tooth cleaning experience
What makes Freshmint Gel different from Original Coolmint?
Firstly, there is the obvious difference that Freshmint is a gel compared to the paste that makes up Original Coolmint. This has been done, as many people personally prefer to brush their teeth with a gel product.
Arm & Hammer Freshmint Gel is also marketed as being effective for whitening teeth. This is done by gradually removing surface stains.
Who is Freshmint Gel suitable for?
Arm & Hammer Freshmint Gel is appropriate for everyone. It is especially beneficial if you prefer brushing your teeth with a gel and/or would like to remove some of the discolouration from your teeth. Its strong, minty flavour also makes it good for those who may suffer from halitosis (bad breath) as the taste can leave your mouth feeling refreshed. For more long-term halitosis relief, the gel fights the bacteria that produce the plaque acids that greatly contribute to the odour.
Causes of Halitosis
- Within the mouth – A lot of halitosis cases are result of a build up of bacteria or food particles in the mouth.
- Morning – Many refer to this as “morning breath” and it is common in the majority of people as the mouth is left dry and inactive overnight. This tends to clear up after food or drink as you begin to produce more saliva (a natural cleaning fluid).
- Xerostomia – This is more commonly referred to as a dry mouth. Halitosis results from this, as there is a lack of saliva present to clean the mouth. This can be due to a long period of sleep or dehydration. It can also be an indicator of a more serious problem and you should consult a doctor if you feel your dry mouth is abnormal.
- Food and drink – this is more a cause of temporary halitosis. Foods well known to cause bad breath are garlic and spicy food. Drinks more associated are alcoholic beverages, such as beer and wine. These smells linger on the breath but can easily be eliminated by stopping your intake of them.
- Smoking – This is common in all smokers and is mostly noticed by those who do not smoke. The only way to remove the smell is by quitting the habit, although smoking can cause gum infection (another cause of halitosis) and if this has already happened, it will take a lot more than stopping smoking to rid the halitosis.
- Dieting – If you have suddenly decided to diet or if you starve yourself, you body reacts by breaking down fat. The result of this is the production of ketones, which can be breathed out and often smell “sickly sweet”.
Recommended Usage
This toothpaste is appropriate use for all, although it does have some specialities that make it more beneficial to certain individuals. It should be use twice a day in replacement of your previous toothpaste. To benefit the most, the gel should be used over a significant period of time.
