As there are no dental schools in Cyprus, all undergraduate and specialist training takes place abroad. This means you will have to ratify qualifications either with the Cyprus Dental Council (CDC) which keeps records, or with the university or school from which the dentist achieved the specialist qualification. One thing you may want to take into account is that there is no mandatory continuing training in Cyprus, although workshops and lectures are organised by the Cyprus Dental Association (CDA). It may therefore put any dentist in good stead with you if they can validly claim to have attended any of these in recent times, as it shows dedication and commitment to keeping up-to-date. Nonetheless, this does not at all mean that any dentists who have not attended these additional courses are any less competent; you will just have to rely on your interrogation and research to reach a decision.
