Colgate has formulated Sensitive Enamel Protect toothpaste for consumers in the US and UK. They have developed this toothpaste to protect enamel against the wear and tear that occurs throughout life due to brushing, eating, tooth grinding among other causes. The wearing down of enamel can lead to cavity formation, these may then require painful and expensive fillings, further enamel wearing may also cause tooth decay. Due to these oral health problems, Colgate deems it important to formulation such a toothpaste as Sensitive Enamel Protect to provide preventative treatment against enamel erosion.
How does it work?
Colgate Sensitive Enamel Protect toothpaste works by remineralising the tooth enamel. This subsequently strengthens it so it is resistant to potential decay.
The toothpaste has been formulated with low abrasivity. This is because abrasives included in many toothpastes for cleaning and whitening power, can wear away the tooth enamel with excess (or sometimes, just regular/frequent) brushing.
Who is this toothpaste suitable for?
Colgate Sensitive Enamel Protect seems especially beneficial for those who suffer from the pain caused by sensitive teeth that wish for a toothpaste that can relieve this pain and prevent further sensitivity. If enamel is worn down too much, it can expose dentine and nerves, which leads to sensitivity. Therefore, by using this toothpaste, sufferers of sensitivity can not only relieve the immediate pain but it also prevents the formation of further sensitivity.
Recommended Usage
This toothpaste should be used as part of your regular, normal oral health maintenance routine. This involves brushing your teeth every morning and night each day. By doing so, you give yourself the highest chance of obtaining the most beneficial outcome.
