Norimin Contraceptive Pill
Norimin is a brand of the combined contraceptive pill that is supplied by Pharmacia LTD. It is a very effective method of contraception with over a 99% success rate if used correctly. It uses two hormones that are similar to natural hormones in your body to control your menstrual cycle to prevent pregnancy.
It is a monophasic pill so therefore each pill contains the same amount of hormones. Norimin contains 1 milligram of norethisterone, which is a progestogen derivative, and 35 micrograms of ethinylestradiol, the oestrogen derivative. These two hormones act upon your menstrual cycle by preventing an egg from being released, thickening the mucous surrounding your vagina and thinning your uterus wall.
Norimin is known as a 21-day pill. This means that each strip contains 21 pills, enough for one menstrual cycle. You take one pill every day at the same time every day until you have completed the strip. When you are finished, you then take a seven-day pill free break in which you will experience a withdrawal bleed. You then start a new strip exactly one week later in order to protect yourself from pregnancy.
There are a number of advantages to using this form of contraception. The pill will be very successful at preventing pregnancy as long as it is used correctly. It is very reliable and a convenient method of contraception. It does not interfere with sex and it is easily reversible if you want to try for a baby. The pill can also help regulate your periods, making them lighter and shorter. However, no contraceptive pill will protect you from sexually transmitted infections, as the only method that can do so is a condom.
Each pill contains the same amount of active and inactive ingredients. Every pill is active so each one contains the hormones and then several inactive products such as maize starch, lactose, magnesium stearate and polyvidone.
