Genuine Inman Aligner: How to Tell if your Product is Genuine

Dental and orthodontic treatments can sometimes be quite costly due to the highly specialist nature of the products used, and the cost of an experienced dentist’s time. Unfortunately counterfeit products are sometimes used to cut costs, and unfortunately these are never prepared to the standard of the genuine product. Counterfeits will often be subpar products which can present issues after some use. In this article we will look at the differences between counterfeit and genuine Inman Aligners, and how you can tell the two about.

Genuine vs. Counterfeit Inman Aligner

The genuine Inman Aligner is made to a high standard for safety and effectiveness, and because of the manufacturing techniques and materials used, it is fairly easy to distinguish a counterfeit from the genuine article.

Laser etched tubing is used on all genuine Inman Aligners bearing the name of the product, and these can be found on the inside, or tongue side, of the Aligner. Each genuine Inman Aligner will carry laser stitched tubes as well, and these can be found on the retention clasps found on the cheek side of the Aligner.

Lasers are used in these instances because of the high quality and precision these tools can offer. Both the laser-stitched tubes and laser etched tubing are distinctive trademarks of the genuine Aligner.

Counterfeit Aligners will often be put together with a low quality silver solder to connect the Aligner’s tube and clasp. Silver solder does not effectively connect these two important components, and when it begins to degrade there are a couple of tell-tale signs which again make it clear that the product is not the genuine Inman Aligner.

Silver solder will make the clasp bulkier than it needs to be, and moreover the solder will begin to degrade, undergoing a distinctive colour change and creating an unpleasant metallic taste in the mouth. Silver solder darkens, often turning black over time. The material used in a genuine Inman Aligner will retain its colour, and will not cause any kind of metallic taste. The clasp will also be less bulky, offering increased comfort as well as its more secure fitting.

Finally all Inman Aligners will come with a complete set of instructions and a storage case, these will be housed in an official box. The Aligner and the box’s other components will be manufactured to a high standard at a certified laboratory.

Counterfeit Aligners won’t be able to provide the same high quality experience as genuine Inman Aligners, and so it is always worth ensuring that you are receiving the genuine article.
