The Inman Aligner works to realign teeth by gently applying a constant force to help re-align your teeth. In order to achieve this however, it is important that you wear the Aligner for a certain amount of time. In this article we look at why this is necessary, and how long you might need to wear the Inman Aligner to achieve your desired smile.
The importance of wearing the Inman Aligner regularly
Contrary to what you may think, teeth are actually fairly dynamic in terms of their positions within the mouth. While they are anchored to the jawbone through their roots, there is still some degree of flexibility available to teeth in terms of their ability to move around and their resulting relative position within the mouth. This flexibility is exploited by orthodontics, and devices like the Inman Aligner are used to apply a constant force that reorients teeth to realign them and straighten your teeth.
In order for this effect to be achieved it is important that the force applied by an orthodontic device is applied slowly and regularly. The gradual and slow aspect of this is key to preventing injury, and it is vital that this force be applied regularly to ensure that results are achieved quickly and effectively. Inman Aligners are particularly efficient orthodontic tools thanks to the fact that the device is made up of 2 opposing arches which both push and pull teeth into their desired positions. This is what makes the Inman Aligner much quicker at achieving straighter teeth than most competing orthodontic technologies.
In order to effectively use the Inman Aligner your dentist will most likely advise you to wear the Aligner for a minimum of 16 hours a day during the period of the Aligner’s use. The recommended wearing time is actually between 16 and 20 hours a day, and how long you will need to wear the Aligner for will depend on your teeth, what your goals are, and how well you respond to the Aligner. Typically speaking you can expect to use the Inman Aligner for anywhere between about 6 weeks to 18 weeks.
Once you have finished using the Aligner you will probably be advised to use a retainer to prevent your teeth from moving back into their previous position.
It is vital that you follow your dentist’s instructions regarding how often you should wear the Aligner in order to ensure that you get the most out of the product.
