How to Take Cerazette
Cerazette is a 28-day pill, which means that you take a pill every day throughout your cycle. When you start Cerazette, take the pill out of the strip that corresponds with the day of the week. The best time to start taking the pill is the first day of your period. This will mean that you are immediately protected from pregnancy. Additionally you can take the pill in the next 5 days of your period but you will need extra protection for seven days, as you will not be protected from pregnancy in this time. The pill should be taken at the same time every day otherwise the pill may not be as effective at preventing pregnancy. It is a good idea to either set an alarm to remind you or fit it into a routine that you do every day at the same time such as brushing your teeth. The pill can be taken with or without food.
You continue taking the pill every day until you reach the end of the pack. Unlike most pills, with Cerazette, you need to go straight onto the next set of pills once you have finished the first strip. This means you will be continuously taking the contraceptive pill every day. During the month, you will experience some bleeding that is like a withdrawal bleed. This is nothing to worry about and you should continue to take the pill at the same time every day.
Changing from another pill to Cerazette
If you are using another form of contraceptive pill that has a pill free break, you can start Cerazette on the day of your period or any time until the end of the pill free break but you must use an extra method of contraception for seven days just in case. This information also applies to the contraceptive patch and the vaginal ring if you want to switch from them to Cerazette.
