Erectile Dysfunction Treatment on the NHS

The qualification for having treatment for erectile dysfunction on the NHS is limited and it is often given to men who are suffering from other health conditions. If you have any of the following conditions then you may be eligible for NHS treatment.

  • High Blood Pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Kidney failure and kidney dialysis
  • MS – Multiple sclerosis
  • Prostate cancer
  • Parkinson’s disease
  •  If you have had a pelvic injury or have had surgery on your pelvis

There are other medical conditions which may allow you to have NHS treatment and so you should visit your GP so they can assess what is causing your erectile problems. If you do not qualify for NHS treatment then you will be given a private prescription by your GP. These private prescriptions have to be paid in full by you and you will receive no discount through the NHS.


Eligibility of Psychological Treatment on the NHS

If you have suffered from erectile dysfunction for a long period of time and it causing you severe distress and if it is affecting your day to day life then you may be also eligible for NHS treatment.

Paying for NHS Prescriptions

If you are in any of the following categories then you may be able to have your NHS prescriptions for free.

  • If you are aged 60 or above
  • If you or your long term partner is on income support
  • If you have a disability
  • If you are currently having cancer treatment.
