Suitability for Caverject

Before going ahead with the Caverject injections it is important to have a consultation with your GP to discuss whether or not you are suitable for this treatment. It is also important to be able to discuss with you GP the correct dosage for your condition. If you have other serious health conditions the recommended dosage may be affected and you should never use more of the Caverject medication than has been recommended to you by your doctor. 

It is also extremely important that you should be completely honest about your medical history as a previous health conditions could dramatically affect your suitability for this treatment.


Listed below are just some of the factors which may affect your suitability for the Caverject treatment;

  • If you have had or currently have Leukaemia
  • If you have had or are currently suffering from sickle cell anaemia
  • If you have had a penile implant inserted to help with your erectile dysfunction
  • If you have Peyronies disease or if your penis is severely disfigured and you are unable to have an erection which is straight
  •  If you have been previously advised not to have sexual intercourse due to other health conditions
  • You should never use Caverject whilst using other treatments for erectile dysfunction

Before taking the medication it is important to check all of the ingredients to make sure that you are not allergic to any of the products within the medication. If you are not sure about any if the ingredients then you should check with your GP before going ahead with the injections.

It is also important to remember that over a long period of time you may become unsuitable for the medication and if you see any change in side effects or results of the medication then you should stop using the injections and contact your GP.
